Hey MOniacs…

For those who know and some that don’t….I put out a CD in 1996 called “Moodswings”…this was my very first album of some very way before my time music. Listening back to it, I hear a very young and ambitious, soulful vocalist mixing jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and gospel all as one.  It’s hard to believe that 14 years have passed, and I’m just now getting ready to work on CD #2.  Why did it take so long?, some may ask…Well, for me it was growth, and understanding what I needed to do musically, emotionally, spiritually, and most of all, truthfully.  I didn’t want to just do a record because that’s what people do, but I wanted to do a record that will become the soundtrack of peoples lives.  To sing the songs that bring people a sense of hope and love, to understand my purpose and now I know….I will be re-releasing “Moodswings” this year, and ask that you embrace my beginnings.  I’ve come a long way, and the journey has just started….

I’ve added a song from “Moodswings” called “Melodee”….it was the signature song from this CD that actually got me selected as a finalist on MTV’s The Cut, which was  a pre-American Idol show that showcased up and coming talent in 1997.  Wow, that was some time ago! lol! Anyhoo, enjoy the song…and tell me what you think….

10 Mood 8 – Melodee

Hey MOniacs!!!!! I’m back…and ready to get creative….Yes it’s time to write and record….and do all those interesting things that I’m so known to do…hmmm don’t know what kind of songs I’m gonna do, I just know I want it to be soulful!!!! I do want to do at least one cover….I have a couple of ideas of songs but I’d love to hear from the MOniacs….and let YOU pick the cover song you want to hear!!!!

Wow! Another 2 weeks of friends, fun, food, and music!  It’s a celebration of life here, and the people of Brazil do just that.  Last night was a phenomenal night, and I was so blessed to share it once again with Anthony King, David Jones, Mello Jr., Ms. Janice Maxie-Reed, and Tony Lindsey aka the Anthony King Band featuring yours truly.  We had too much fun, and I so look forward to coming back next year to do it again.  I will be getting on the plane to come back to the good ol USA, but I tell you, the memories that I have can never be replaced.  Thanks again to my many good friends, Marisa, Rosalie, Yasmin, Simone, my husband #2 Jose, Eduardo, Igor, Sergio,  the staff of Bourbon Street, Herbie, Inez, all the Brazilian musicians that came out to support us, and the list can go on and on.  As my closing song, I sung for the last time the song “I’m Every Woman”.  For the past 6 years, this has been like my signature song, and so fitting to who I am and what I am. THANK YOU SAO PAULO for making me every woman for you for 6 years! See you at 7 in 2011!!!!

Hey MOniacs!!!!!

Wow, I can’t believe how fast these 2 weeks have gone.  I guess it is true…time flies when you are having some good fun!  Again, this has been a wonderful experience and I’m totally looking forward to coming back next year!!!!!  Last night was again, AMAZING!  The crowd was on fire, and so was the band….my partner Tony Lindsey, the main vocalist for Santana, is amazing! Check the vid out on his get down, and the fun we have on stage! Tonight is our last night at Bourbon Street, and I know it will be one of those shows, everyone wish they could experience….hope I’m coherent enough to take pics! Can you say Caiphirania?????

It’s such a pleasure and an honor to perform for my many friends around the world.  It’s even better when I can personally come and shake your hand or take a picture and hear your many interpretations of my performances.  It makes me smile when someone comes to me and tells me what a song, or my voice did to or for them, and I thank God for his blessings, shown through you….

Hey MOniacs!!!!!

I don’t know what’s going on here…but it’s getting crazy! Last night the people came out and man! They gave up sooo much energy, to the point one man started throwing money on the stage!!!! It’s getting wild! And so am I.  Our last 2 shows are tonight and tomorrow and the people know it!!!! I tell you, the people of Sao Paulo are gracious people who enjoy and appreciate good music!  You can feel there spirit, and the love that they have!  After 6 years…I’ve become very fond of this city…and the loves continues to be given back to me, and grows!!!!!!

Still here in Brazil…the weather is beautiful and the people are beautiful as well….I’m in my last week at Bourbon Street and the show are getting wilder by the day….yesterday I went shopping at this beautiful mall called Patio Higienopolis whew! Ladies, if you’re like me….you already know!!!! shoes!!! Hahaha…anyhoo!

Hello!!!! Just sending a shout out to the new MOniacs that have joined us here….this is becoming quite the fam, and I thank all of you for it….the MsMo, campaign is soon on it’s way to start….I wanna know about your cities, and where the cool places to play are and who are the contact people are…you know all the fun stuff so I can start to make my way there….I wanna see you!!!!!!

On a Saturday night!!!!! Wow!!! Bourbon Street was packed to capacity…and the people came to have a festive time! Sao Paulo does not play when it comes to the scene here.  After 6 years of coming here to perform it never gets old!!!!! Today, (Sunday)  my friends, Marisa and Rosalie came and took Tony Lindsey (the male vocalist I’m singing with) and I out for lunch were we sat and listened to “popular Brazilian” music, with just a guitar, an accordian, a tambourine, and a triangle as the instruments.  After, we we went to Paulista, an area of hand made,  flea-market like shopping and great desserts!!!! Ahhhh, beer, and chocolate shouldn’t go together but it does!!!!!!!.good times! Another day off, more vocal rest and  Samba dancing tomorrow….yeah!!!!!!

That’s the time we decided to end it last night….Bourbon Street was on fire!!!!! No rain is gonna stop their good time….and a good time we had.  The people were partying and I was sangin’!!!!!! It was so much fun to see the guys singing “I’m Every Woman” all loud and proud! hahaha u gotta love it!  Well of course the party continues tonight…I’m sure it’ll be a 5 a.m. end tonight!!!!!
